Smart Growth

>

Information Television Network (ITN) is initiating a new documentary entitled "Smart Growth." From South Florida to Southern California, we showcase the main premise behind Smart Growth: to grow in a way that is good for the economy, the community and the environment. Smart growth creates places that provide a neighbor to neighbor, friendly family environment. The program emphasizes the importance of new planning and development strategies. A key principle of Smart Growth is designing communities that give people a choice about how to get around rather than forcing people to rely on cars for every trip. Smart growth places people in a position to interact more and spend less time in traffic. The model echoes some of the best aspects of old town living where people resided close together and could walk to most of their daily needs. Many communities have begun to see economic and social prosperity through the Smart Growth approach.
